About Karina Richardson
Karina Richardson is a Los Angeles-based tattoo artist, designer, and educator with a vibrant, eclectic approach to art. With a degree in Communication Design and Illustration from Pratt Institute, Karina’s work is fueled by her love for playful, bold, and colorful creations. Her art is often inspired by the things that make her laugh or designs she would want to receive herself—making her work approachable, fun, and full of personality. Whether it’s a cheeky illustration, a whimsical tattoo, or a vibrant greeting card, Karina’s pieces are infused with an energy that’s both joyful and striking.
As a certified RISO Technician, Karina has a deep appreciation for the risograph printing process, which she incorporates into much of her work. This unique, analog method of printing allows her to create vibrant, layered designs with an imperfect, handmade quality—perfectly matching her aesthetic of bold colors and playful designs. In addition to RISO, Karina has expertise in silkscreen and cyanotype printing, giving her a diverse toolkit to bring her colorful visions to life. Her designs often feature a dynamic mix of hues, textures, and patterns, each piece radiating fun and positivity.
In addition to her creative work, Karina is passionate about teaching. She runs a private studio in Downtown Los Angeles, where she works on her own projects and teaches others how to harness their creativity. With a friendly, approachable teaching style, Karina fosters a collaborative environment where students feel empowered to explore new techniques and build their artistic confidence. Her goal is to inspire others to embrace their creativity while providing them with the skills they need to bring their ideas to life.
Beyond her studio work and teaching, Karina has a wealth of experience in studio management and event coordination. As a certified RISO Technician and experienced studio manager, she has led teams, planned large events, and curated programs that support local artists. Whether overseeing daily operations or planning creative collaborations, Karina combines her artistic talent with strong organizational skills to make a lasting impact in both her artistic practice and her community. She is always seeking new ways to connect with others and share her love of creative expression.
